How To Apply Wallpaper Mural

So you've just bought yourself some dazzling marble wallpaper mural or perhaps you're just curious on how to install it? Well in this guide, we'll go through all the necessary you'll need to take in order to apply your new wallpaper and transform your living space as a result.

1. Measurement

Measuring your wall is easier than you think. All we need is the width and height of the wall at the longest and widest possible points. See the drawings below to get you started and don’t forget, we’re always here if you need us.

Take your measuring tape and note down the widest width and the highest height of your wall. We only need wall measurements, don’t include any skirting board or coving.

We know walls come in all shapes and sizes, it’s one of the reasons we love them! For tips on measuring different wall types, scroll through the sketches below.

Standard Wall

Simply measure the full height and width of the wall. We need your exact wall size, so don't forget to double check the measurements before submitting your order. We only need the dimensions of the surface you wish to cover, excluding any skirting boards or coving.

Sloped Wall

When you have a sloped ceiling or wall, measure the longest and widest parts only, ignoring any slopes. We provide the mural as a whole rectangle or square. Therefore, the slope will need to be cut away during installation.

Pitched Wall

If your wall has two slants, simply identify and measure the longest part of the wall in both width and height. we will produce your mural as a square or rectangle, with the cutaways taking place during installation

Wall with Obstacles

When there is a door, window or other obstacle on your wall, only measure the total width and height of the wall, as the obstacle will simply be cut away during hanging.

Multiple Walls

If you're looking to wrap a wallpaper around multiple walls, make sure that you order a significant enough quantity of wallpaper mural to cover your walls with. Any excess paper will be discarded during installation.

2. Install

3. Prepare your paper

Your mural is printed on paper in the size 1 m2 to 5 m2.  We have made allowances for trimming top and bottom to compensate for uneven walls. Ensuring your wall surface is smooth and free of imperfections will make your mural look its best.

4. Place the first panel

Apply a pre-mixed wallpaper adhesive directly to the wall (for non-self adhesive mural). Hang the first length, working from top to bottom, and allowing the paper to fall naturally. Smooth over with a wallpaper smoother to ensure no air bubbles remain underneath. Make sure that you have correctly fit your wall mural in key image areas (eye level and focal points) before top and bottom trimming, and reposition if necessary.

5. Perfect your panels

To achieve a seamless effect on a mural with multiple panels, we print useful markers on the borders of our paper to help you get it right. Using the crop marks on each panel, overlap lengths at the top and bottom as a guide, and visually match the image. Cut down the centre of the two overlapped panels using a sharp blade. When finished, gently lift the overlapping panel of paper and pull away the thin paper strip from underneath.

Top tip: you can use a seam roller to ensure the wallpaper is well bonded at the join.

6. Repeat to complete

Continue to hang each subsequent panel using the method described above until the mural is complete. Make sure to carefully clean any adhesive or other residue with warm water and a sponge, then step back and admire your new mural.

So just to recap, when applying new marble wallpaper remember to:

1. Measure the area where you'll be applying your wallpaper
2. Prepare your wallpaper
3. Place the first panel
4. Perfect your panels
5. Repeat to complete
